Written and created by Eleanor Bergstein, Dirty Dancing is based on the hit 1987 film which starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. The musical premiered in Australia in 2004.The plot surrounds pampered Baby Houseman and her family's trip to the Catskills in 1963, where she falls in love with her wrong side of the tracks dance partner, Johnny Castle. I saw Dirty Dancing on stage, last week. I can say it is truly wonderful. The stage is phenomenal, the dancing, the music, the singing was everything I thought it should be. I was slightly disappointed in the person selected to play 'Johnny', although he was a wonderful dancer, he was just a little too sleek to truly represent 'Johnny'. I do understand that Patrick Swayzee was a hard act to follow...
