Laura Bell Bundy to star as Elle Woods

New York: The producers of Legally Blonde the musical have announced that Laura Bell Bundy will star as Elle Woods in the upcoming Broadway musical. Photo By Paul KolnikThe musical, based on the novel by Amanda Brown and MGM film of the same name, will begin previews at the Palace Theater on April 3, 2007 and officially open on April 29th. The musical's pre-Broadway tryout will take place at San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre from January 23, 2007 through February 24th. Jerry Mitchell makes his directorial debut with the production. He also serves as choreographer. Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe have written the music and lyrics, Heather Hach has written the book.The creative team includes set design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by ACME Sound Partners.The 2001 film starred Reese Witherspoon, Selma Blair, and Luke Wilson. In the musical, sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
