By Amy Somensky Sep 19, 2006, 2:21 GMT
New York: Usher has extended his stay with Broadway's Chicago through October 14th. He was originally set to stay with the revival through October 1st.
About joining the production, Usher said previously in a statement, "This is a very exciting time in my career. I have always admired Broadway actors for their showmanship, dedication and focus that goes into performing live on stage every night. Being on Broadway allows you to connect to audiences in a whole new way that’s different from music and movies. When they asked me to play Billy Flynn in Chicago, I jumped at the chance to be a part of such an amazing production."
Usher's last album Confessions sold over 15 million albums. His film credits include She's All That, The Faculty, Light it Up, Geppetto, Texas Rangers, and In the Mix.
Chicago currently stars Bianca Marroquin, Brenda Braxton, Rob Bartlett, Roz Ryan and R. Lowe.
Murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery - that is Chicago, the kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who kills her lover as a career move; Billy Flynn, a sharp lawyer who turns Roxie into a celebrity; and Velma Kelly, a dancing jailbird with an ear for headlines and an eye for talent.
