Ashlee Simpson as Roxie Hart
London: Confirming rumors, Ashlee Simpson has been announced to join the London production of Chicago as Roxie Hart on September 25th. She will play a limited five week season through October 28th.
21 year-old Texas-born Ashlee Simpson followed in her sister Jessica Simpson’s footsteps by becoming a recording artist. Her debut album Autobiography went triple platinum and her single "Pieces of Me" was an international smash hit. She made her own MTV series The Ashlee Simpson Show and made frequent guest appearances in the television series Malcolm in the Middle, as well as playing a continuing role in 7th Heaven. Her new album I Am Me has just been released.
Ian Kelsey will continue to star as Billy Flynn and Amra-Faye Wright and Julian Sims as Velma Kelly and Amos Hart, with Brenda Edwards as Mama Morton.
Murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery - that is Chicago, the kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who kills her lover as a career move; Billy Flynn, a sharp lawyer who turns Roxie into a celebrity; and Velma Kelly, a dancing jailbird with an ear for headlines and an eye for talent.
