London : Gavin Creel is set to replace Gavin Lee as Bert in the London production of Mary Poppins . Lee has been cast in the same role in the upcoming Broadway run. Creel will join the London cast on July 26th. An exchange program between the American branch of Actors' Equity and the U.K's Equity has allowed Creel to take the role of Bert.

Creel was Tony nominated for his role in Thoroughly Modern Mille , and has appeared on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles .
The musical currently stars Scarlett Strallen, Gavin Lee, Aden Gillett, Eliza Lumley, Diane Langton, Sarah Flind, and Louise Gold.
Mary Poppins opened at The Prince Edward Theater on December 12, 2004 to fantastic reviews. Directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne, the musical has a book by Julian Fellows, music by Robert and Richard Sherman with additional songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and choreography by Matthew Bourne and Stephen Mear.
Based on the classic Disney film about the pratically perfect nanny who takes care of two children whose parents are occupied with other manners, Mary Poppins was nominated for nine 2005 Olivier Awards and took home two, one for original Mary, Laura Michelle Kelly and one for Best Choreography.
