New York: The winners of the 2006 Drama Desk Awards have been announced. The big winner of the night was The Drowsy Chaperone with seven wins including Outstanding Musical, Lyrics, Music, Book, and Featured Actress in a Muscial (Beth Leavel). The History Boys also came out a winner with five awards including Outstanding Play, Actor (Richard Griffiths), Featured Actress (Frances de la Tour), Featured Actor (Samuel Barnett), and Director (Nicholas Hytner).

The Drama Desk also presented the following special award:A lifetime achievement award to Horton Foote for his bountiful body of work that sensitively explores the human condition.
