New York : The Broadway dates have been announced for Legally Blonde , a new musical based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 MGM film starring Reese Witherspoon. The production about the bubbly and fashionable Harvard Law student Elle Woods will debut at a Broadway theater to be announced on March 30, 2007. Opening night is set for April 26th. A pre-Broadway tryout will take place at San Francisco's Orpheum Theater in January 2007.
The musical features music and lyrics by Neil Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe and a book by Heather Hach. Jerry Mitchell will make his Broadway directorial debut and will serve as choreographer. The creative team includes scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, and lighting design by Kenneth Posner.
The muscial concerns Sorority star Elle Woods who doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law.
