Carole Shelley joins Chicago's Wicked

Carole Shelley as Madame Morrible in Wicked
Chicago: Carole Shelley has joined the Chicago production of Wicked as Madame Morrible. The Tony winner will fill in for Rondi Reed through June 25th. Reed has left the musical to fulfill her commitments to appear in Northlight Theater's production of The Retreat From Moscow. She will return to Wicked on June 27th.
Shelley's Broadway credits include Wicked, Cabaret, Show Boat, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, The Odd Couple, The Miser, Stepping Out (Tony Nomination), Noises Off, and The Elephant Man (Tony Award).
Wicked currently plays The Ford Center for the Performing Arts/Oriental Theater in Chicago, and stars Kristy Cates as Elphaba, Stacie Morgain Lewis as Glinda, Gene Weygandt as The Wizard, Kristoffer Cusick as Fiyero, Heidi Kettenring as Nessa Rose, Telly Leung as Boq, and Steven Skybell as Dr. Dillamond.
Long before Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two unlikely friends end up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch is Wicked.
