New York : The Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera welcomes two new cast members. Joining is Michael Shawn Lewis as Raoul and Roland Rusinek as Piangi.
Lewis has starred in five different companies of the musical; on Broadway, in the national tour, a production in Belgium, and two productions in Germany. He has also appeared in The Woman in White on Broadway and Les Miserables .
Rusinek will be making his Broadway debut in The Phantom . He starred in the musical in Toronto as well as the national tour of Kiss Me, Kate and Beauty and the Beast in Montreal.
The musical continues to star Howard McGillin, Sandra Joseph, George Lee Andrews, David Cryer, Anne Runolfsson, Marilyn Caskey, and Heather McFadden.
Based on Gaston Leroux's novel, The Phantom tells the story of a deformed man haunts the underground of the Paris Opera House. He falls in love with a young woman, Christine, whom he is teaching to perfect her voice. He exerts a strange control over her especially when she begins to fall in love with the handsome Raoul, and causes mayhem when things do not go his way.
