Molly Ringwald to star in Sweet Charity tour

Molly Ringwald will headline the nationl tour of Sweet Charity. The tour, directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Wayne Cliento, is set to launch in September 2006. More casting, cities, and dates will be announced later.

Molly RingwaldRingwald is most known for the teen films she starred in as a kid including The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Pretty in Pink. Her stage credits include Cabaret, tick, tick...Boom!, Modern Orthodox, and Enchanted April.The Broadway production of the musical starring Christina Applegate closed on December 31, 2005. The musical features lyrics by Dorothy Field, music by Cy Coleman, and a book by Neil Simon. Charity Hope Valentine is a taxi dancer with a heart of gold. She dreams of meeting the right man and settling down, but keeps waisting her affections on losers. Her luck starts to change when she meets a suave Italian movie star, but things really start to look up when she runs into a shy but sweet guy in a night-school elevator. Could this finally be her Prince Charming?
