New York: Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me has added another stop on its journey towards Broadway. The production will play a limited engagement in Toronto from May 27, 2006 through July 2, 2006. This engagement joins stops at San Francisco's Curran Theater from April 25th through May 21st and at Chicago's LaSalle Bank Theater from July 5th through July 16th. The show is set to open at a Broadway theater to be announced on August 10, 2006.
Originally named, Martin Short: If I'd Saved, I Wouldn't Be Here, the show combines musical comedy sketches and dance numbers. Short will fill the stage with characters such as Jimimy Glick, Ed Grimley, and many others. The production features music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, book by Daniel Goldfarb, and direction by Wittman. The creative team includes choreography by Christopher Gatelli, set design by Scott Pask, and costume design by Jess Goldstein.
