New York: Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life plays its final performance at the Schoenfeld Theater today after 72 performances.
This won't be the end of the musical though, a tour is set to launch at Miami's Performing Arts Center on January 2, 2007.
The Dancer's Life opened on December 11, 2005.
Chita Rivera brings her life on the stage to Broadway. The Dancer’s Life is a tour through landmark creations in the American Theater that were helmed by some of the greatest talents in its history including Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein, Bob Fosse, Gower Champion, and Michael Kidd.
Of course Chita Rivera stars as herself alongside Liana Ortiz as a young Chita. The show features a book by Terrance McNally and choreography by Graciela Daniele.
Rivera has one Tony Awards for The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and has been nominated for Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Bring Back Birdie, Merlin, Jerry's Girls, and Nine.
