Lestat delays opening

New York: The preview and opening dates for the upcoming Elton John - Bernie Taupin musical Lestat have been delayed to give the creative team more time to work.
Originally set to begin previews on March 11th and open on April 13th, the musical based on the novels of Anne Rice, will now begin previews on March 25th and open on April 25th.
It was also announced that Jonathan Butterell has been brought in "to provide an objective overview as it undergoes revisions."
The musical just ended its pre-Broadway tryout at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. It received mostly negative reviews, but the producers announced that it grossed $4,315,293. A number that broke the San Francisco record for the highest-grossing world premiere there.
The musical will star Hugh Panaro in the title role, Carolee Carmello, Drew Sarich, Jim Stanek, Roderick Hill, Michael Genet and Allison Fischer. The ensemble features features Rachel Coloff, Nikki Renee Daniels, Joseph Dellger, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Chris Peluso, Megan Reinking, Sarah Solie, Amy Sparrow, Will Swenson, Steve Wilson and Tommar Wilson.
Lestat features a book by Linda Woolverton, lyrics by Bernie Taupin, music by Elton John, and direction by Robert Jess Roth. The creative team includes scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Susan Hilferty, and lighting design by Kenneth Posner.
