Chicago: The 2006-2007 season of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater has been announced. This year a production of Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman is included.
The drama, directed by Amy Morton, will run in the Downstairs Theatre from September 14, 2006 through November 12, 2006.
The play which recently ran on Broadway concerns a writer who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a number of child-murders occurring in his town. When the writer's mentally impaired brother is also brought in for questioning, this police procedural takes twists and turns that will leave you spellbound.
The play opened on Broadway on April 10, 2005 at the Booth Theater and ran through September 18, 2005. It was nominated for six 2005 Tony Awards. The London premiere of the play won the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play.
The Steppenwoolf season will also include Sonia Flew, Betrayal, The Diary of Anne Frank, and August: Osage County as well as The Bluest Eye and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in its young adult series.
