A spokesperson confirmed to Playbill.com that Ron Eldard and Jena Malone performed in the January 11th matinee at the Walter Kerr Theater and were expected to make the evening performance. Eileen Atkins is still too ill to perform so Lizbeth MacKay played the matinee and was expected to do so in the evening performance. There is still no word on when Atkins will be ready.
Eileen Atkins, Ron Eldard, and Jena Malone were set to begin performances in Doubt on January 9th, but all three were hit with the flu and were unable to perform.
Understudies Lizbeth MacKay (Sister Aloysius), Stevie Ray Dallimore (Father Flynn), and Nadia Bowers (Sister James) went on for the actors.
Eileen Atkins takes over the role of Sister Aloysius originally played by Cherry Jones. Atkins has appeared on the New York stage in The Killing of Sister George, The Promise, Vivat! Vivat! Regina, Indiscretions, The Retreat from Moscow, Prin, A Room of One's Own and Vita and Virginia.
Ron Eldard replaces Brian F. O'Byrne as Father Flynn. Eldard has appeared on Broadway in Death of a Salesman, On the Waterfront, and Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues.
Jena Malone will make her Broadway debut as Sister James, replacing Heather Goldenhersh. Malone has appeared in such films as Saved!, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, Life as a House, Cold Mountain, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, and Pride and Prejudice.
Adriane Lenox will continue to star as Mrs. Muller.
John Patrick Shanley's drama opened at The Walter Kerr Theater on March 31st. It won the 2005 Tony Awards for Best Play, Best Actress in a Play, Best Director, and Best Featured Actress in a Play.
In Doubt, a strong-minded woman is faced with a difficult decision: Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues...even if she's not entirely certain of the truth? Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, it makes for very potent theatre, to be sure.

It should read 'Two third of the new Doubt cast', since three new actors (out of four roles) were originally scheduled to take over on Jan 9th. Now two out of those three recovered and made their debut. So not wrong math, but a missing adjective.
I changed the headline accordingly.
A missing adjective is a missing adjective... but much better now.
It was a mistake, which can happen, that has been corrected.

'New York: Two thirds of the Doubt cast made their debut in the musical after being sidelined with the Flu.'
Come on, Amy -- spend a little more time on the article. Two-thirds of a cast of four? Interesting math. Musical? Doubt is not a musical. It won the Tony for Best Play.
