Cyndi Lauper
New York: Cyndi Lauper will replace Edie Falco as Jenny in the Roundabout Theater's production of The Threepenny Opera. Lauper, who will be making her Broadway debut, is most known for her singing career, but appeared in David Henry Hwang's Largo in 2001.

It was reported a weeks ago that Edie Falco had lef the production. No reason for her departure was given.

Starring in the musical will be Ana Gasteyer as Mrs. Peachum, Alan Cumming as Macheath, Nellie McKay as Polly, and Jim Dale as Mr. Peachum.

The musical, directed by Scott Elliot, will begin previews at Studio 54 on March 24, 2006 and open on April 20th.

The Threepenny Opera has been adapted from the musical Die Dreigroschenoper by Wallace Shawn. In it a notorious bandit marries a young girl. Her father does everything in his power to end the union.

It will feature set design by Derek McLane, costume design by Isaac Mizrahi, and lighting design by Jason Lyons.

I think Cindy will be a much better addition to the play. I really don't know miss Falco, but I have known Cindy for many years, and The Threepenny Opera is my favorite play... therefore, I think she is the perfect choice!!!!!

I can't wait for this play to come out!
