A statement said that, "Negotiations are ongoing with a male star to play opposite Ms. Atkins. Additional casting will be announced shortly."
Atkins has appeared on the New York stage in The Killing of Sister George, The Promise, Vivat! Vivat! Regina, Indiscretions, The Retreat from Moscow, Prin, A Room of One's Own and Vita and Virginia.
John Patrick Shanley's drama opened at The Walter Kerr Theater on March 31st. It recently won the Tony Awards for Best Play, Best Actress in a Play, Best Director, and Best Featured Actress in a Play.
In Doubt, a strong-minded woman is faced with a difficult decision: Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues...even if she's not entirely certain of the truth? Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, it makes for very potent theatre, to be sure.
