Pillowman Closes Today

New York: Martin McDonagh's critically acclaimed play, The Pillowman, closes today on Broadway. It will have played 208 performances. The play closes when the contracts of original stars, Billy Crudup, Jeff Goldblum, Zeljko Ivanek, and Michael Stuhlbarg expire. The producers chose to close rather than recast.

The play opened on April 10th at the Booth Theater. It was nominated for six 2005 Tony Awards. The London premiere of the play won the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play.

In The Pillowman, a writer in a totalitarian state is interogated about the gruesome content of his stories, and there similarities to a number of child murders that are happening in his town.
