Kanye West has developed a pilot for a new hip-hop puppet show.

The 'Stronger' singer - who was immortalised in puppet form for the music video for his single 'Champion' - has teamed up with US network Comedy Central for the show, tentatively titled 'Alligator Boots', which has been described as "hip-hop meets the Muppets".

The project, reportedly set to air in 2009, will feature music produced and performed by Kanye and his rapper pal Rhymefest.

Different celebrities will front each episode of the series - a similar format to the original 'The Muppet Show'.

Kanye hosted the 30-minute pilot episode of 'Alligator Boots'.

However, the venture will not take Kanye fully away from his musical career.

It was recently reported the rapper was so upset by criticisms of his new single 'Love Lockdown' when it was leaked onto the internet he returned to the studio to correct the "below average" production.

Posting on his official blog, Kanye wrote: "Your prayers have been answered! There's a new version of 'Love Lockdown' coming. We used new Taiko drums and I re-sung it - it's being mastered now."

Kanye's next album, '808s and Heartbreak' is due for release in November.
