Album Review: ‘Now That’s What I Call Music, Volume 25’

The popular series called Now That’s What I Call Music (shortened to Now) continues on in this most recent 25th volume.  This latest edition continues the tradition of compiling radio hits into one easily bought collection (I’m always a fan of the instant collection).

The series got its start in the UK and its popularity has blossomed into success in many countries across the world as well as spawning competing collections.

It features tracks from Fall Out Boy (“Thnks fr th Mmrs”), Avril Lavigne (“Girlfriend”), P!nk (“U + Ur Hand”), Keith Urban (“I Told You So”), and Justin Timberlake (“Summer Love”).

We also get some American Idols (Daughtry (“Home”), Carrie Underwood (“Before He Cheats”), and Kelly Clarkson (“Never Again”).  Quiet a few of the songs made it to #1 (3 in fact) and other climbed very well on the charts.  I really don’t listen to much top 40 radio and I guess this is a good way to have a sampling of what is going on there.

I usually stick to the Oldies station since most of the songs that I listened to in my youth are now making it onto there (and that was the 80s).  I do appreciate the instant collection and always like a diverse collection.
