WWE wrestler “The Miz” is the new Marine

WWE Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced plans for a new installment in The Marine franchise with WWE wrestler Mike “The Miz” Mizanin stepping in to the title role for the franchise’s third film – The Marine: Homefront.

The film will be the first starring role for Mizanin and will see directing chores handled by Scott Wiper – who directed The Condemned.  Principal photography is scheduled to begin June 11th in Vancouver.

In the film, Mizanin portrays a Marine who is forced to put his skills to the test when a radical militia group kidnaps his rebellious niece.

The unrelenting soldier does whatever is necessary to save his niece and stop a terrorist attack masterminded by the militia leader.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is attached to handle worldwide distribution on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download.  WWE is expected to use its global recognition to help market the film through television, digital/social media and print.
