Popcornflix, the online digital movie platform that allows movie lovers to watch great movies for free anytime, has launched the company’s app for iPad and iPhone – which gives film enthusiasts access to their favorite stars and feature films on their mobile devices.
The new app is available for download free at the iTunes App Store. The digital site is already available online and on Roku.
The new movie streaming apps Popcornflix makes it easy to browse and select from hundreds of theatrically released and independent titles in a wide range of genres, including action/ thriller, comedy, family/kids, drama, horror, Bollywood and documentaries, all presented with an easy user interface.
Movie lovers can choose a movie by genre, actor or director, select from the latest in new arrivals, pick from the site’s most popular films or browse all of the films featuring some of Hollywood’s most popular and sought-after actors, including Brad Pitt, Ryan Reynolds, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, Melissa Leo, Alec Baldwin and many more.
The iPhone and iPad apps launch initially with over 300 free films available to watch instantly. Popcornflix intends to have 1,000 films available by the end of 2012, adding new movies every day. The Popcornflix iPhone and iPad apps also allow users to share the apps with friends by posting a link instantly to their Facebook or Twitter account or via an email notice.
In a press release, Gary Delfiner, Senior V.P. of Digital Distribution for Screen Media Ventures, LLC, parent company of Popcornflix, stated: “We developed these iPhone and iPad apps to be state-of-the-art, easy and fun to use. Viewers are never more than two ‘taps’ away from hundreds of great films they can view for free!”
Popcornflix is an ad-supported platform. Each film includes pre-roll, spot ads and banner ads that offer content and advertising partners a valuable opportunity to connect with the movie viewing audience. A service of Screen Media Ventures, LLC, a leading worldwide independent motion picture distribution company, Popcornflix taps into its parent company’s library of more than 1,500 motion picture titles. The online version of Popcornflix is currently available in 10 countries, including the US, Canada and the UK. Popcornflix is also available on Roku in the US.
The service will expand internationally in the coming months; additional distribution outlets will include web-enabled TVs, DVD players and set-top boxes – virtually everywhere movie viewing platforms are available.
