Book Review: Freeform Crochet and Beyond

Crocheters looking to move on to more challenging projects will want to check Kirkpatrick’s collection of small freeform designs. Not a pattern book per se although row-by-row instructions are provided for the many medallions and shapes, this is meant to motivate textile artists and expand how they put crochet elements together. The examples shown are for smaller objects like hats, bags and scarves but once crocheters grasp the basic concepts they will be limited only by their imaginations. Although the color choices may not be to everyone’s taste and some of the hats are over the top, Kirkpatrick does an admirable job of providing experienced crocheters with the fundamentals to create their own freeform designs.
