Andris Nelsons, newly appointed Boston Symphony Orchestra Music Director signed his contract next to Ted Kelly (Chairman of the BSO Board of Trustees) and Mark Volpe (BSO Managing Director, not pictured) at his first Boston appearance since his appointment.
Andris Nelsons formally signed his contract as the 15th Music Director of the BSO in front of an audience at Symphony Hall including media, BSO subscribers, leadership, and musicians from the BSO, Tanglewood Festival Chorus, and Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras.
A proclamation by the City of Boston declares Tuesday, June 25, 2013 “Andris Nelsons Day” at Faneuil Hall at 5 p.m. Andris Nelsons will throw the first pitch at the Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park tonight after leading a brass ensemble of BSO and Pops musicians in pre-game fanfare. Nelsons, the next Boston Symphony Orchestra Music Director, will be at Faneuil Hall at 5:00-5:30 p.m. to be presented with a Proclamation honoring Mr. Nelsons’ appointment as the next BSO music director and declaring Tuesday, June 25, “Andris Nelsons Day” in the City of Boston. Mr. Nelsons will lead a short performance with brass players from the BSO and Boston Pops.
